Rooted In strength. growing towards the future.

In the words of C.G. Jung, "No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell." Our roots represent our past and the integration between things both positive and negative. They develop our root structure and perceptions. Our growth towards the future requires an inspection of the roots. Help us grow first-responders to their highest heights.

First responders are at an increased risk for mental health issues. Studies indicate that more firefighters and police officers die by suicide than in the line of duty, with rates of depression and PTSD up to five times higher than the general public.

The average person may encounter up to three traumatic events annually. In contrast, a first responder could experience up to 700 traumatic events over a 20-year career.

The Results matter

Theory alone is a good intention or idea. Without putting a theory to the test, it has no usefulness to us personally, our peers, or society.

A result is a consequence, effect, or outcome of something (New Oxford American Dictionary). At TBF we teach theory and learn through experience to deliver results. We embody the belief that all progress comes from executing a successful process.
It is through our research and development, personal experiences, and daily practices that we succeed in the process. Self-discipline and empowerment with relational commitment is how we establish process to progress.

" He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how. "

- Friedrich Nietzche

At Trial By Fire, we train to bear almost any how. “The essence of training is to allow error without consequence.” -Orson Scott Wells.

Error is inevitable, how we handle error is a result of our training and our choices.
