Rest. Reconnect. Remember What Matters.
At Trial by Fire, we recognize that the impact of service doesn’t stop at the station—it follows you home. That’s why our Family Respite program is designed to offer first responders and their loved ones a sanctuary of rest, reconnection, and renewal.
Located on our serene 50-acre ranch, this program invites families to step away from the noise and strain of daily life and experience undistracted time together. Whether it’s fishing by the pond, hiking the trails, gathering around the fire, or sharing meals in the lodge, these moments allow families to reconnect at a heart level.
For Families: Support, Tools, and Time
Being the spouse or child of a first responder comes with a unique mix of strength, sacrifice, and often unspoken struggles. The long hours, emotional weight, and unpredictability of the job can leave family members feeling isolated or misunderstood. That’s why we offer:
- Spouse Support Resources: Workshops, reading materials, and small group connections that address compassion fatigue, emotional resilience, and how to communicate through high-stress seasons.
- Kid & Teen Resources: Age-appropriate materials and activities that help children understand their parent’s job, express their emotions, and feel seen and safe.
- Family-Focused Retreats: Guided weekend experiences that create space for healing conversations, fun, and intentional bonding.
For First Responders: Training on Family Impact
Many first responders carry guilt or confusion about how their role affects those they love. Our program provides insight and training to help them better understand:
- The hidden emotional toll their families may carry
- How to re-enter the home environment after a critical shift or traumatic event
- Tools for building stronger connections with spouses and children
- Ways to cultivate emotional presence, empathy, and trust at home
A Place to Heal Together
We believe that healing is not only individual—it’s relational. By offering both a restful environment and real tools for growth, the Family Respite program helps restore the foundation that holds our heroes up: their family.
“Your family doesn’t just need you safe. They need you whole.”
